Press Pause Play

“Press, Pause, Play” showed an interesting side to the background of the technological revolution. I found myself intrigued with the points of view I never took into consideration before. Being an artist used to be specialized and unique. Listening to Moby explain how the development and technique for creating music has evolved and in a sense become easier for those without the lifelong passion to so easily “create,” was eye opening.

Today anyone can be an “artist.” It’s no longer based on drive, passion, talent or dreams. Anyone with a small pile of money can create a music album, or direct a movie. As opposed to learning a craft based on trial and error, and being a starving artist, you can “compose” a song with software in five minutes.

The plus side of this expanding technology is that there is a world wide spread of art. Between vast variety of free websites on the internet such as YouTube, online blogs, Amazon, Facebook, and Instagram, the entire world can share music, movies, news, art, textiles, fashion, painting and writing.

This Do It Yourself phenomenon may be seen as a threat to those who started out years ago in these industries, but I personally find it excited as it gives me an opportunity to experience the world cultures virtually, instead of never being exposed to them due to limited financial means and inability to travel the world.
